Celinda Harvey McCullough (1850-1937, Urbana, Illinois) is dressed in a very fashionable walking suit popular in the early 1900s. The jacket is trimmed with lace and soutache braid, with pleating that is echoed on the skirt. The S-shape silhouette is formed both by the corset underneath and the cut of the blouse and short jacket. She wears her hair piled on the top of her head, topped with a hat that emphasizes the forward prominence of her hair style.
The reticule opens with an expandable frame and reflects the larger size that became popular after the turn of the century.
