Description
These high laced women's boots close with twenty sets of lace holes on each side of the shoe, each lace having an aglet at the end. They have a seam separating the vamp from the quarter, and the bottom of the heel is shaped like a crescent moon. They bear the label “Sorosis.”
Sorosis was a brand of shoes located in Lynn, Massachusetts. Introduced in 1897, the company became so popular that they began opening their own retail stores before finally shutting down in 1934. These shoes were advertised as “Safe Shoes.” Their advertising claimed that “Sorosis safe shoes are so fashioned that they cannot injure the feet that wear them when properly fitted. Some shoes are really dangerous because they do not conform to natural lives and oddities of shape that happen to be considered highly fashionable.”
